14 Awesome Performances In Otherwise Awful 2015 Movies

5 & 4. Robert Redford & Nick Nolte - A Walk In The Woods

The Movie: This is a perfect example of a movie you'll watch and have completely forgotten within a few days. Yes, it offers some pleasant scenic views, but not a whole lot more outside of the aforementioned performances: it's a blandly amiable film for the twilight crowd (the age, not the vampire franchise) that could've done so much more with its incredible cast. Also, keep your eyes peeled for some of the worst background CGI in recent movie history (though you won't need to peel your eyes because it's so damn obvious). At this stage in their careers and lives, Redford and Nolte deserve so much better. The Performances: There's little point arguing with the quality of Redford and Nolte's work here: they completely disappear into their roles (which, admittedly, aren't much of a stretch), and manage to make a decent enough statement about the nature of aging even when the script is aggressively dull. The enjoyable double-act between the two acting legends is what prevents it from being eye-gouglingly awful: they're performers everyone loves verbally sparring for 100 minutes, and they bring out the best in one another even when the script and direction don't.
