14 Awesome Performances In Otherwise Awful 2015 Movies

14. Arnold Schwarzenegger - Terminator Genisys

The Movie: This misguided attempt to half-reboot the flagging Terminator franchise was, for the most part, an incomprehensible mess which lazily rehashed some of the most iconic moments in the series while adding virtually nothing of value to the mythos. The decision to transform series hero John Connor (Jason Clarke) into a villain was an admirably brave one, but giving away the twist for free was a major marketing mistake, and the performances from Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney were, well, terrible. The Performance: The one constant of Genisys is that Schwarzenegger is virtually faultless in the role that made him a household name. Even when the script asks him to pull cheesy grins and spout ridiculous dialogue, he is very much the Terminator we know and love, a rare bright spot in a movie that tried to eliminate much of the legacy Arnie built. It's never going to win an Oscar or even a Golden Globe, but it's more of the reliably deadpan Arnie we've learned to love over the last three decades, and pretty much the only performance in the entire film that actually functions effectively. Plus, liquid metal Arnie: who doesn't dig that?
