14 Awesome Recent Movies That Actually Deserve Sequels

Paul Feig's spy caper comedy was a fantastic genre send-up which succeeded more for its stacked cast than its fairly down-the-line narrative.

Melissa McCarthy shines in easily one of her best roles to date, though the likes of Jude Law, Rose Byrne and especially Jason Statham also provide plenty of game support, keeping Spy snappy, outrageous and a ton of goofy fun.

Being a spy movie and all, the franchise potential is self-evident: keep the plot light, focus on characters and bring a ton of new A-list talent in to fill out the supporting cast. Sorted.

How Likely Is It?: After the original made an impressive $235 million worldwide, it's honestly strange that Spy 2 hasn't been talked about more often.

The failure of Ghostbusters may have given Lionsgate a brief moment for pause, but a Spy sequel is an incredibly low-risk proposition, so it's just a matter of time before it gets announced.

Feig apparently has a script ready to go, but scheduling the cast might prove a tad tricky. 8/10
