8. Padmé's Diplomatic Solution

Which Episode? Attack Of The Clones

Where would it be in film? After Padmé and Anakin are captured on Geonosis.

What happens? Before Anakin and Padmé are sent out to be inefficiently killed by giant monsters, they come face-to-face with Count Dooku in a couple of short scenes. The first sees Padmé attempting to negotiate Obi-Wan's release, with Dooku agreeing on the condition Naboo leaves the Republic. The second shows that things have clearly deteriorated, with the pair now on trial and sentenced to death. The former scene is the more interesting, but they're both necessary to paint the structure of Geonosian society.

Should it have been cut? It's cool to see a bit more of Christopher Lee and it adds to the whole diplomatic solution-aggressive negotiation in-joke that's forming between the young lovers, but it's really only for fans; in terms of the movie as a whole it's rather unimportant.
