14 Castings For New Movies That Prove Hollywood Has Gone Insane

4. Johnny Depp - Sherlock Gnomes (Gnomeo & Juliet 2)

Though he did good work in Murder On The Orient Express, Johnny Depp's star is waning thanks to a series of poor performances and personal controversy that has soured his reputation.

Apparently, his means to rescue his brand is to star in Gnomeo & Juliet 2 as Sherlock Gnomes, because that entire film is just an excuse for weird gnome-based gags. Strangely, the film exists despite precisely nobody needing it and the decision to cast Depp (not to mention his acceptance) is ever so slightly baffling.

After all, he's usually hired because he's Johnny Depp and people like to see him. Having him voice a British gnome detective is not at all expected.

Will It Work?

Well, he's had a lot of experience doing sily voices in the past few years - which his career has threatened to be entirely defined by, in fact - so it might not be terrible. Worryingly, though his performance in Mortdecai suggests he's not the best with flamboyant English accents.
