Nobody in their right mind would look at 77-year-old former US Vice President Dick Cheney and think he'd be an ideal character for 44-year-old Welsh actor Christian Bale to play, but here we are.

Even weirder, the film - occasionally known as Backseat but strictly still untitled - is being made by Adam McKay, stars lots of comedians and somehow ISN'T a comedy. How can Bale not be playing Cheney for laughs?

So far, glimpses of him in character have shown a typical transformation by Bale, which should help, but it's still a hell of an odd direction to go in.
