13. Zachary Levi - Shazam!

For a while, it looked like John Cena might be headed for the plum role of Shazam in the mosy surprisingly still-active DC movie in production, but then New Line Cinema pulled the rug out by announcing that Chuck actor Levi was taking the role.

And while he's done comic book movies before (the Thor movies), he's hardly the most likely of candidates, given that his physique is pretty far away from Superman-like. More weirdly, it seems to suggest a straight-up comedy approach to the movie, which REALLY doesn't sit well with the DCEU to date.

Will It Work?

Levi is charismatic and likeable enough, but he's not what you'd expect for a superhero (especially given Shazam's look in the comics), but Paul Rudd worked for Ant-Man, so it might work.
