14 Castings For New Movies That Prove Hollywood Has Gone Insane

12. Will Ferrell - Sherlock Holmes (Holmes & Watson)

While it's good to see Will Ferrell and John C Reilly working together again, nobody in their right mind would have cast the pair as Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson. Well, nobody expect Etan Cohen.

Looking at the rest of the cast reveals some excellent decisions - Rob Bryden as Lestrade, Ralph Fiennes as Moriarty, Hugh Laurie as Mycroft Holmes - but then you have the man-child comedy duo playing a brilliant genius and his manservant (though Reilly playing Watson straight would be great).

Obviously, the surprise is probably a big part of the comedy, but is Ferrell's Holmes going to be able to compete for relevance against Robert Downey Jr, Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee MIller?

Will It Work?

This one's a little worrying, because the idea of two hours of Ferrell doing his English accent is not the most enticing prospect, and nor is the prospect of such a beloved character being taken down.

Why couldn't they have just made Step Brothers 2?
