14 Castings For New Movies That Prove Hollywood Has Gone Insane

11. Jamie Foxx - Little John (Robin Hood)

Summit seem to have a lot more confidence in cinema fans' enthusiasm for another Robin Hood movie than they possibly should given recent attempts to trade on the brand, and the decision to go with a "gritty" reboot is just annoying.

Bafflingly, the film has also cast Jamie Foxx as Little John, which is not wrong because of his ethnicity, but because it immediately makes you think of the traditional image of the character. And there's absolutely no way he'd be able to play a man from Nottingham convincingly, given his attempt to do a London accent not so long ago...

Will It Work?

This is not quite what it seems, and looking a little deeper makes it look a lot better.

The idea of him playing a traditional Little John is all sorts of wrong, but this Little John has been described as a battle-hardened but war-weary veteran of The Crusades, who fought on the opposite side to Hood. Sort of like Morgan Freeman's Azeem in Prince Of Thieves. Which sounds a lot better.

Doesn't make his Little John name - traditionally given as he's a giant of a man called John - make any sense though.
