14 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy The DCEU

12. Warner Bros. Are Double-Dipping Fans For The R-Rating

Before Batman v Superman even hit cinemas, it was revealed that an R-rated Ultimate Edition would be hitting Blu-ray, boasting not only 30 minutes of extra content that clarified plotlines and added entire subplots, but also more bone-crunching violence and non-sexual nudity than the MPAA would allow under the PG-13 umbrella.

While on one hand you can applaud Warner for at least allowing Zack Snyder's original version of BvS to get a release, it's also infuriating that you're essentially having to pay twice to get the full experience, seeing the theatrical release (because who's patient enough to wait for home video?), and then either buying or renting the "definitive" version later on.

Warner's mindset is clear: why risk their box office with an R-rating when they can get kids in seats with PG-13 and double-dip adults with disposable income?

It's simple economics at the end of the day but that doesn't make it any less crass. Ultimately if you buy into these double-dips you're just supporting that economy and telling Warner Bros. that it's OK for them to exploit their biggest fans.

Remember: these companies are not your friends. They want your money above all else, and it'd be a major shock if Justice League doesn't end up with the very same model (though hopefully the theatrical version won't have quite so much crucial plotting cut out).
