Todd Solondz's classic dark comedy is one of those movies that makes you crave a hot shower the moment it's over. Its skin-crawling depiction of society's sinister underbelly is epitomised no better than by psychiatrist Bill Maplewood (Dylan Baker), a secret paedophile who preys on several of his 11-year-old son Billy's classmates.

This leads to Bill raping two young boys, and as the police catch wind of his behaviour, he confesses his crimes to young Billy, insisting that he enjoyed it and planned to do it again.

Billy then asks, "Would you ever f**k me?", to which his father grimly replies, "No... I'd jerk off instead", as Billy breaks down in tears.

Even for Solondz's standards, this is the zenith of f***ed up, and for many might be the point where they turn the movie off and decide to do something else, anything else. It's the height of awkward, uncomfortable, grimly funny and, most disturbing of all, probably truer to life than most of us know.

A brilliant movie no doubt, but one you need to work yourself up to see twice because of this scene alone.
