Grim Highlight: Knife to the hand
A Tale of Two Sisters is a South Korean horror film directed by Kim Ji-woon (who also directed I Saw the Devil) that tweaks a traditional Korean folk tale for modern times. Su-mi and Su-yeon play the titular sisters who lead tragic lives in a potentially haunted house. There is no way to discuss the scene without spoilers, so if you haven't seen the film yet, then skip ahead to the next entry. The movie isn't particularly violent, which really emphasises the explosion of physical damage done during the scene in which Su-mi fights her stepmother Eun-joo (or does she?) with the medical supplies at the family's house. Su-mi then stabs Eun-joo in the hand before a bag of tacks fall on the floor, so when Eun-joo slips and falls her back lands hard on the tacks, piercing her skin in her back. Later in the film, it is suggested that Su-mi was impersonating Eun-joo at the time due to her split personality disorder, so the fight retroactively appears to be between Su-mi and herself.
