14 Excruciatingly Gory Movie Fight Scenes To Make You Squirm

11. The Hunted

Grim Highlight: Tommy Lee Jones getting stabbed in the bicep The Hunted is a 2003 film directed by William Friedkin (the director of The Exorcist and The French Connection) which did not make a lot of money or receive particularly good reviews. It's a pretty straightforward thriller story with Benicio del Toro playing a former elite military man gone bad and Tommy Lee Jones playing the man who has to stop him, but the surprisingly great part of the film is its brutal climactic fight scene. As a warning, the rest of this entry contains spoilers... not that I'd recommend watching the full movie anyway. Over the course of the fight, a knife changes hands and both are cut badly (particularly Jones's character), but both show their military resolve in continuing the fight despite increasing injuries. The setting next to a waterfall is very dramatic, but unlike Kill Bill, the fight is surprisingly realistic and it appears that being stabbed actually hurts the person who is cut. After Tommy Lee Jones is stabbed in the bicep by del Toro, he takes the knife out of his arm and stabs his opponent with it in the chest, killing him. It's a hard scene to watch, but thankfully not for the same reasons as the rest of the film.
