14 Movie Franchises You Had No Idea Still Existed

Remember The Marine? Built as an action vehicle for WWE's John Cena, the 2006 action thriller bombed at the box office, but stubbornly convinced to make it a franchise regardless, WWE lowered the budget, moved to a straight-to-video release strategy and decided to pepper each installment with a revolving door of WWE talents.

Cena took the dignified approach of not starring in any follow-ups, with The Marine 2 starring Ted DiBiase Jr. - for some reason - and the four other sequels all starring The Miz.

They're competently made but ultimately incredibly forgettable action films that succeed only because they can be marketed extensively on WWE television, and the hardcore fans will lap them up solely for that fact.

The Marine 6, also starring Becky Lynch and Shawn Michaels, is due out later this year. At least it'll probably be good for some unintentional chuckles, which surely helps keep the series afloat.
