14 Movie Posters And DVD Covers That Blatantly Lied To You
10. Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
Imagine you’re strolling through the horror aisle at the video store when you come upon this one: it’s the eighth Friday the 13th movie called Jason Takes Manhattan, and the poster features this awesome image of the infamous killer towering over the city holding a giant hunting knife. Holy crap, that looks so cool.
What would you assume the film is about? Jason wreaking havoc in New York City for 90 minutes, right?
Nope.
If that’s what you expect, you’ll be sorely disappointed. Despite how awesome that cover is, a better title for the movie would be Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes A Boat Which Is Heading Towards Manhattan. In the real movie, a boat passes over Crystal Lake and Jason sneaks on board, and the whole film is just him going around killing passengers. He doesn’t actually get to New York until over an hour in.
The film technically lives up to the title and the poster towards the end, but only technically.
