14 Movie Trailers That Spoiled Awesome Plot Twists

Lenny Abrahamson's terrific 2015 drama revolves around a young woman, Joy (Brie Larson), and her son Jack (Jacob Tremblay), who are held captive inside a single room for many years. The film isn't defined entirely by the not-so-surprising revelation that the pair eventually manage to escape, but there was still no point in the trailers making it an absolute certainty.

When Joy and Jack are eventually rescued about half-way through the movie, it's a wonderful moment of sooner-than-expected catharsis. However, the marketing made no pains at all about spoiling the escape and some of its most breathtaking shots, namely Jack seeing the outside world for the first time.

You can argue this was an attempt by A24 to assure audiences Room wasn't a gimmicky single-location movie and had a more sprawling story to tell, but even so, it would've been far more interesting if that triumphant moment was kept concealed until audiences first saw it for themselves.
