10. The Sum Of All Fears

Roughly half-way through this Ben Affleck and Morgan Freeman-starring Jack Ryan movie, a nuclear weapon is detonated in Baltimore, annihilating the city and killing Freeman's CIA Director Cabot.

It's a shocking, sobering moment, especially if you saw it during its theatrical release when post-9/11 tensions were at an all-time high. It remains an incredibly stirring sequence in an otherwise pretty forgettable movie, but dammit, the trailers only went and spoiled it.

Granted, this isn't the climax of the movie, but there was still absolutely no reason to ruin it ahead of time. The marketing should've focused on the race to stop the detonation, which would've made the terrorists' victory even more jaw-dropping.
