14 Movies That Will Make You Glad You're Single

4. Brokeback Mountain

I'm a pretty liberal guy, and if two people are in love then they are in love, no ifs, ands or buts, Jack and Ennis have a right to love one another and it's not our place to say anything about it. Well, this film puts these characters through the wars alright. Just wanting to be in love is something that is apparently a real struggle, yeah this is set in the 60s but it still presents love as a real depressing slog. The worst part is that Jack dies off-screen and miles away from his true love Ennis, the death's ambiguous but it would be no surprise if the "exploding tire" story was just a cover to make Ennis feel better. True love seems to be something that you can't have if society doesn't want you to, I may not be gay but I sure as hell can relate to how crap this situation must be. That cold half of your bed suddenly became all the more welcoming, didn't it?
