Could it really be anything else? Sure, the whole plot is born from the male protagonist having an affair but if he was single then he would have never had an affair in the first place, would he? If you've ever wondered where the term "bunny boiler" comes from then your wonder can end, it's this film, but boiling a bunny is just one of many acts of cruelty that Michael Douglas is put through by Glenn Close. I think most people realized that having an affair was most definitely a terrible, terrible idea after Fatal Attraction came out, but logically the most full-proof way of eliminating the possibility of an affair is to just not go out with anyone full stop. I'd rather cherish a lack of hand holding than fall victim to a maniac any day of the week.
