13. Mel Gibson Could Direct Suicide Squad 2

According to Deadline (who reported the news first), Mel Gibson is being courted to replace David Ayer as the director of Suicide Squad 2. Gibson then responded to the news to say they were talking, but that it was "kind of a first date." Still... exciting.

Your excitement for this one probably depends entirely on how you feel about Gibson as a man, rather than as a director (because there is irrefutable evidence that he's great at that side of his life). He's been a controversial figure for some time now, he's outspoken and rather unfortunately for Warner Bros, he's spoken out not only against comic book movie film-making, but also specifically about Batman v Superman.

Still, Oscar nominations can mend a lot of bridges, and Hacksaw Ridge's success (which is entirely deserved) has clearly gone a long way to forgiving him of a multitude of sins. Plus, Zack Snyder did once say he had no interest in conventional superheroes like Superman and Batman, so things CAN change.

And at the end of the day, Gibson makes great films, and it might well take a bad boy director to make a bad guy comic book movie.
