If there's one fact to come from the Sony leak that is truly news-worthy and actually in the public interest, it's Sony's participation in Project Goliath, a quest by Sony, Universal, Fox, Paramount, Warner Bros., Disney and the MPAA to bring Google down due to users' ability to access piracy websites by way of their search engine. The numerous e-mails between company lawyers rarely refer to Google by name, instead as "Goliath", and discuss how much of an enemy Goliath is to their goals. These companies are all looking to align with Comcast to introduce new anti-piracy measures, though they do concede the PR problem they face after 2012's proposed SOPA bill was crucified in the court of public opinion and as such failed to be passed. Needless to say, this is jaw-dropping information and is hugely harmful to Sony's anti-piracy strategy, while Google will no doubt be consulting with their legal teams for some sort of counter-strategy.
