14 Star Wars Original Trilogy Easter Eggs You Need To See

3. The Shoe In The Space Battle

The finale of Return Of The Jedi is probably the most impressive space battle in the entire saga. The opening of Revenge Of The Sith may boast that cool opening shot (and a sink), but the Battle of Endor feels so much more visceral. With so many different ships all engaged in battle it's a brilliant technical achievement that still holds up today. In amongst the Millennium Falcon, X-Wings, TIE Fighters, Star Destroyers etc. there's also some unexpected items involved in the fight; a shoe and a yoghurt pot.

According to Ken Ralston, who worked at ILM for twenty years, he put snuck these in amongst the battle. Why? According to Ralston, "it was my way of just saying, €˜See what you can get away with?€™"

He really did get away with it; even after scouring the film fans haven't been able to find where they are, but if the visual effects supervisor insists they're there must be. This is the source of the claims that there's a shoe in the asteroid field from Empire; people got confused between that and the potato.
