Though in fairness the first trailer is still a little while out, this just reeks of low-effort holiday family fare, especially coming from the writer of...Rio 2 and the straight-to-video Open Season: Scared Silly (which is somehow the fourth film in the series).

Why It'll Still Make A Profit: Christmas movies almost always make money because they prey on sentimental audiences who want to go to the movies as a family and soak in some syrupy comfort food. The Star will deliver to that end, and with its racially diverse cast (from Steven Yeun to Kelly Clarkson to Oprah Winfrey), it covers an incredibly wide demographic base.
