14 Terrible Looking 2017 Movies That Will Shockingly Make A Profit

7. Annabelle 2

Annabelle 2
Warner Bros.

Release Date: August 11

Why It Looks Terrible: An unexpected R-rating did little to make 2014's spin-off from The Conjuring anything more than an unintentionally comical misfire, so even with the promising David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) directing this sequel, expectations are thoroughly through-the-floor.

These movies would be so much more entertaining if they took a sillier, Child's Play-esque tone, but instead they're agonisingly self-serious. Like the first, Annabelle 2 is likely to be low on actual scares and entertainment value.

Why It'll Still Make A Profit: The original movie made an astonishing $256.9 million against a $6.5 million budget, so even if the follow-up somehow grossed a mere 10% of the first film's take, it'd still be a decent success.

With gorehounds typically starved for films over the summer period, Annabelle 2 releases completely unopposed and short of a disaster should easily clear $200 million worldwide, setting up the inevitable threequel (Annab3lle?).
