14 Terrible Recent Movies Destined To Become Cult Classics
8. King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword
Why It's Terrible: Going by its atrocious box office, it seems that nobody desired a video game adaptation of the Arthurian legend, which sees Guy Ritchie transferring his successful Sherlock Holmes formula to King Arthur with...bizarre results.
Frantically paced to the extreme, Ritchie feels like he's trying to shove a franchise worth of movies inside one two-hour film, and simply strays too far from the source material while failing to justify doing so. Where the Hell was Guinevere?
Why It'll Be A Cult Classic: Once you get over how this only really feels like a King Arthur movie in name alone, there are some perverse pleasures to be had here, from the typical Guy Ritchie banter, to the outrageous, gamey, CGI-fueled action, and Jude Law's hilariously hammy villainous performance, which includes a scene where he cuts a guy's ear off and then mockingly speaks to it.
It's also hard not to enjoy Daniel Pemberton's incredible musical score, which may have you enjoying the film more than your refined sensibilities want you to.
