14 Terrible Recent Movies Destined To Become Cult Classics

Why It's Terrible: When a Tom Hanks and Emma Watson-starring movie goes straight-to-Netflix in the UK despite scoring a theatrical release overseas, you know something went horribly wrong.

The Circle is a calamitous adaptation of Dave Eggers' acclaimed dystopian novel, derailed by the talented James Ponsoldt's weirdly awful direction, a clunky script full of peculiar twists and turns, and a performance from Boyhood's Ellar Coltrane so terrible it just might win him a Razzie next year.

Oh, and John Boyega's randomly in it, and is blatantly green-screened into a number of scenes that were presumably re-shot while he was off doing Star Wars or Pacific Rim.

Why It'll Be A Cult Classic: Rarely are films starring so many talented actors (it also counts Bill Paxton, Karen Gillan, Patton Oswalt and Rob Corddry among its cast) so laughable, but the movie's exceptionally off-kilter style and tone will nevertheless make it a so-bad-it's-good classic for years, even decades to come.

Plus, any movie where Emma Watson enthusiastically butchers an American accent (and there are quite a few of them now) absolutely deserves to be savoured.
