14 Terrible Recent Movies Destined To Become Cult Classics
5. Table 19
Why It's Terrible: Too deadpan for its own good, this low-fi ensemble comedy brings a room of talented actors together and does little interesting with them, while making the terrible decision to "get real" in its second half, which doesn't really work because the characters aren't actually convincingly human (or particularly likeable).
Why It'll Be A Cult Classic: Any movie featuring actors as diverse as Anna Kendrick, Tony Revolori, Craig Robinson, Stephen Merchant and Lisa Kudrow is always going to win itself some fans, and honestly, if you're really, really into your deadpan humour, you might actually get something from this that most critics didn't.
Its low budget and thrown-together nature do at least make it a little more compelling than most lame-brained studio comedies, and the cult of Stephen Merchant (which is pretty significant at this point in time) will no doubt keep singing the film's praises until the end of time.
