14 Upcoming Movie Sequels Nobody Asked For

5. Daddy's Home 2

Pirates Of The Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales
Paramount Pictures

Release Date: TBA

Daddy's Home is that Will Ferrell-Mark Wahlberg comedy you possibly watched last Christmas with a belly full of turkey and beer and promptly forgot ever actually existed.

It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good either, and though it did end with an amusing tag for a sequel (where Ferrell and Wahlberg must team up against yet another father figure, played by John Cena), surely nobody actually took that sequel-bait seriously?

Well, the film ended up making a ridiculous $240 million (making it Ferrell's highest-grossing live-action movie to date), so Paramount sure did. That's right, Daddy's Home 2 is happening.

Could It Be Any Good?: It really depends on whether or not John Cena's WWE schedule will actually allow him to appear in the movie, because if not, then that admittedly-hilarious set-up will be all for nothing.

Cena is unexpectedly great at these supporting comedic roles (as he proved last year in Trainwreck and Sisters), so he could up-end the original's dynamic in an entertaining way. Best to expect something on the same tier of quality as the first: OK, but forgettable.
