Why It's Doomed: A Men in Black movie...without Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones? Good luck with that. After a half-baked attempt to get a Men in Black/21 Jump Street crossover movie made, Columbia Pictures decided to move ahead with a reboot instead, which will feature younger actors in the J and K roles as they face down a global alien invasion.

Without a director or any cast members announced yet, we can only judge the project on its screenwriters, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who are responsible for Iron Man...and Punisher: War Zone...and Transformers: The Last Knight.

Considering that Men in Black 3 was a solid success against the odds, it makes no sense to cut Smith and Jones out entirely for the fourth film, which would probably function better as a passing-of-the-torch-type movie, where the legacy actors have smaller supporting roles.

Instead, Columbia is rolling the dice and seeing what happens, which history dictates is a recipe for disaster more often than not.
