14 Washed-Up TV Shows In Desperate Need Of Cancellation
7. Red Dwarf
During its original 8-series run, BBC's Red Dwarf was a jewel in the crown of British comedy, and even if its final two seasons didn't quite measure up to the rest, they did little to harm its indelible legacy. Expectations were high, then, when UK network Dave resurrected the show in 2009 for a three-part spin-off, Back to Earth, which while successful in terms of ratings, was widely panned by most Dwarf fans for its lack of wit and reliance on parodying Blade Runner. The tenth season, which aired in 2012, did admittedly fare much better, even if it still couldn't live up to the brilliance of the previous seasons. Red Dwarf XI is meanwhile set to start filming sometime next year for a 2016 air-date, though one has to wonder if it isn't best to just let the show fade away peacefully rather then drag it out and risk repeating a Back to Earth-type fiasco. Though the cast proved in series 10 that they've still got the chops and chemistry, it just doesn't feel like writer Doug Naylor's heart is in it anymore.
