3. The Kindness Of Strangers

The Kindness of Strangers
Vertical Entertainment

Starring The Monster’s Zoe Kazan, this painfully schmaltzy misfire will leave viewers wondering, wouldn’t we all have been better off if On the Waterfront helmer/ grandfather Elia Kazan never ratted out his friends to the feds?

After all, if it weren’t for that decision he lived to regret, his career could have taken a hit and, without a trust fund to draw from, we’d never have had to sit through his descendant’s attempts to act in this embarrassingly melodramatic, needlessly bleak drama which tries to fuse modern interpretations of folklore with some laughable attempted philosophy. But instead Kazan folded and we were left with this faux-philosophical sort-of-fairytale which aims for enlightening and instead lands flat on its face.

Also, it wasted Bill Nighy. Truly bottom of the barrel stuff.
