15 Acclaimed Recent Movies That Are (Probably) Doomed To Receive A Backlash

If there's one recent movie that is destined to age horribly, it's Deadpool, Fox's R-rated X-Men spin-off.

This is for two main reasons. Firstly, its jokes are very much of this era and secondly, and more importantly, it just coasts along on being R-rated for much of the run-time. Once the novelty of that wears off, you've got a fairly average superhero film that's not nearly as smart or subversive as it thinks it is.

Deadpool is funny and entertaining enough, but it's also got a very formulaic story, distracting non-linear editing and a dire villain, while it also feels like your average superhero film only with F-bombs and bloody violence.

Frankly, it's a little hard to know what all the fuss was about an R-rated superhero film to begin with. After all, just a few years earlier we had Kick-Ass, a far more adult and subversive superhero movie. Let's not forget, Kick-Ass featured a ten-year-old girl dropping C-bombs and shooting people up.

Regardless, just like with so many films on this list, once viewers get over the surprise, they'll probably get bored.

Its sequel had a strong story alongside the adult content, so that'll hold up much better.
