Arnold Schwarzenegger enjoyed some of the biggest success of his career during the 1980s and it all started with the film that earned him worldwide recognition - Conan The Barbarian.

Based on the work of Robert E Howard from the 1930s, the film follows Conan, a young member of the Cimmerian tribe, who watches his mother and father die at the hands of Thulsa Doom, played by James Earl Jones.

Conan grows up as a slave and as a result of intense physical labour, becomes a massively muscular man He earns his freedom as a gladiator and makes new friends on his journey across the wastelands. When they are asked by a King to rescue his daughter from Doom and his cult, Conan sets off in an attempt to seek vengeance on Doom.

Conan The Barbarian is an epic hard-R fantasy film, featuring well choreographed sword fights, magic, huge monsters and plenty of blood. Although the film fell just shy of being remembered at the time as a box office success, it earned a massive cult following and has sold incredibly well on home video.
