Shailene Woodley almost being cast as Katniss has become a more interesting "what if?" as time's gone by. At the time a minor child actress who'd had some minor TV success, her career has started to directly mimic Jennifer Lawrence's - a big hit with an Oscar-nominated indie before branching out into a couple of mainstream franchises (Divergent and The Amazing Spider-Man, from which her Mary Jane was cut). That Divergent, in which she plays protagonist Tris, is heavily inspired (read: copied) from The Hunger Games only furthers that comparison Woodley is a great actor and would have likely delivered a performance similar to Lawrence. It's very likely that over time, as her star continues to rise, she'll become the most popular alternate casting of Katniss. But that doesn't mean she'd have been the best...
