Woodley may be quite like Lawrence, but in terms of who'd have been the best Katniss had Mystique not come aboard, you can't get better than Hailee Steinfeld. Another Oscar nominee (Best Supporting Actress for True Grit), she's got what it takes to lead a revolution. The actress is totally unshowy and rather down to Earth (the same can't be said of some of the other contenders on this list). She's on the younger side, actually being the same age as Katniss, but that's hardly a detraction when she's a competent actress - True Grit showed that she could play someone trying and only half-succeeding at pretending to be mature (pretty hard when you think about it), which would work for the put-upon Katniss we're first introduced in the first film. Although she missed out on the incredible part, Steinfeld has still kept working, keeping mostly to indies - could a second Oscar nom be on the horizon?
