2. Matt Damon - The Dark Knight
After the critical success of Batman Begins, it felt like a huge number of highly-acclaimed actors were immediately linked with roles in the follow up. The likes of Adrian Brody, Paul Bettany and Sam Rockwell were all linked to The Joker, but thankfully they were passed over for Heath Ledger.
Two-Face was very much a similar situation with multiple actors - including both Mark Ruffalo and Hugh Jackman – considered. So too was Matt Damon, who was apparently actively pursued for the role. He turned it down because of a scheduling conflict, mimicking what happened with Avatar. He didn't even get a chance to talk to Christopher Nolan for it.
What He Made Instead
Che, presumably, though he wasn't particularly active in 2007, and it's more likely that the promotion of the Bourne Ultimatum was what stopped him.
