15 Announced Movies That Are Destined For Development Hell
4. The Legend Of Conan
Status So Far: In 2012, it was announced that a sequel to 1982's Conan the Barbarian was in the works, with Arnold Schwarzenegger reprising his role as an older Conan. Though it missed an originally planned 2014 release, the script is almost done and the search for a director has started. Why It's Destined For Development Hell: It would truly be amazing if this film ever actually got made. 2011's Conan remake didn't suggest there was much interest in the property for a new generation, and Arnie isn't exactly terrific at opening movies on his own anymore, so aside from those who loved the original, who else will even bother watching a 70+ year old Arnie (by the time filming is completed) swinging a sword around? Even though the film will surely draw attention to his age (as per the original "King Conan" idea), with Arnie's relatively full schedule and a lack of financial interest, it'd be a big surprise if this one ever actually went under the cameras.
