In some down-time from their quest, Ron teaches Hermione how to skim stones in a gorgeous Scottish loch, while Harry watches on, pondering the journey, the mysterious eye in the mirror, and no doubt thinking of Ginny. Should it have been cut? Sure, the first half of The Deathly Hallows was bogged down by the seemingly never-ending on-the-run sequences, but this is one character beat that actually feels like it would have aided, rather than hampered, the prolonged second act. Seeing the smart one learn something from the dumb one is an age-old trope, but that doesn't mean it can't be done effectively. Ron finally getting to show his own brand of smarts is victory enough, but considering where the series is going with this pair, it's a nice, unovert way of building to their future together.
