15 Awesome Horror Movies With Lower Critical Scores Than They Deserve

10. Friday The 13th Part 2

Saw Fresh
Paramount Pictures

Rotten Tomatoes: 28% (Average Score: 4.45/10)

Metacritic: 26

Friday the 13th Part 2, as things stand, is the best Friday the 13th film and the reviews don't do it justice. After all, the first film had decent reviews and this sequel is actually better, so it's unfair that this wasn't given more of a chance.

It's reasonably well-directed, well-judged in terms of tone, has likeable characters who we don't necessarily want to see die horribly and it has a very good Final Girl in the form of Ginny (Amy Steel), who's a hell of a lot better than the original's rather dreary protagonist.

Best of all, this is the only film in the franchise that is actually scary as opposed to just intense, as this has many suspenseful chase scenes and some very good jump scares.

It's no masterpiece, but it is nonetheless a very enjoyable and tense horror film that manages to nail a light-hearted, silly tone without ever being disposable. Come to think of it, it's one of the best slasher movies out there, so with this one maybe just ignore the critics.
