15 Awesome Movies To Watch This Summer (That Aren't Blockbusters)

The Plot: Struggling musician Jack Malik (Himesh Patel) gets hit by a bus during a worldwide blackout, and when he wakes up, he discovers he's the only person on Earth who remembers the songs of The Beatles. Naturally, he decides to pass their hits off as his own and become a mega-star.

Why It's Going To Be Awesome: It's safe to say that just about nobody expected Danny Boyle's top secret musical project to be quite this weird, but the Oscar-winning filmmaker has proven himself enormously capable in thrillers and comedies alike over the years.

With its charming cast - also including Lily James, Kate McKinnon, Ana de Armas and...Ed Sheeran - and a script from Brit-com legend Richard Curtis, Yesterday looks like it could be one of the year's biggest sleeper hits, celebrating some of the most beloved pop music of all time while wrapped inside a compelling examination of contemporary fame.

If nothing else, it's certainly going to be one of the most unique and bewildering films from an auteur filmmaker released this summer.
