15 Awesome Movies To Watch This Summer (That Aren't Blockbusters)

11. The Curse Of La Llorona

The Curse of La Llorona
New Line Cinema

Release Date: April 19

The Plot: A widowed mother-of-two, Anna Garcia (Linda Cardellini), finds herself and her children antagonised by the infamous folk legend La Lorona aka the Weeping Woman.

Why It's Going To Be Awesome: With The Conjuring's James Wan producing the film alongside It co-screenwriter Gary Dauberman, there are high hopes from horror fans that it might be another fun and devilishly scary rollercoaster ride through haunted house tropes.

In fairness, The Conjuring series itself hasn't been terribly consistent to date, but the marketing for this movie promises just enough variation on genre formula with its uniquely Latin American flavour and unmistakably creepy antagonist.
