15 Awesome Scenes From Trailers That Were Stupidly Cut From The Film
14. Wall-E
The reason Pixar or Dreamworks films rarely have deleted scenes beyond storyboards is because the process to render the fully realised worlds is so time-consuming there just isn't the opportunity to make much beyond the film's running time. Wall-E is one of the rare examples when one of these scenes made it to movie level quality.
Originally in the final act it was Eve who would have been mortally wounded, with Wall-E desperately trying to fix her. This plot development remained in the film so long a fully rendered version can be seen on the DVD. Realising that was pretty dumb in the context of the film - we know Wall-E loves Eve, but aren't yet aware the feelings are fully reciprocated - Andrew Stanton quickly redid the scene, reversing the roles. It was done so late in the day, however, that elements of the scene remained in the theatrical trailer.
