15 Awful Endings That Ruined Potentially Great Films

8. Signs (2002)

Signs was never going to be a great film at any point. But this film is representative of a career that showed great promise and tanked in the end. When The Sixth Sense came out, we all thought M. Night Shyamalan was a genius. The Unbreakable came out and we though €œcool, what else have you got?€ And his answer was Signs. And we said €œOh, no. No, no, no€. And he said €œyes, why not?€ This pattern seems to have been repeated ad nauseam ever since. The Ending That Ruined The Film Another example of how, when an unstoppable alien invasion is brought to a film, writers struggle to justify its ending. In this case the aliens terrorizing the farming family have an aversion to water. As such, it became a film where a water balloon was the world€™s most deadly weapon. It is pretty dumb and actually one of Shyamalan€™s worst twists to boot, which is really saying something.
