15 Awful Films The Avengers Actors Want You To Forget

14. Very Good Girls (2013) - Elizabeth Olsen

RottenTomatoes Score: 19% The Plot: Best pals Lily (Dakota Fanning) and Gerry (Elizabeth Olsen) are back home for one last summer before heading off to college, and make a pact to both lose their virginity by summer's end. They end up falling for the same dreamboat artist, David (Boyd Holbrook), but when Lily embarks on a secret affair with him, their friendship is severely tested. Why It Sucks: It's tough to imagine what Elizabeth Olsen was thinking when she signed on for such a poorly-scripted, insipid drama, especially considering that she'd already made her name with Sundance hit Martha Marcy May Marlene 18 months before production on this film began, at which point she must've been swimming in good scripts. Though the love angle is fundamentally dis-interesting and the characters are thoroughly irritating, what's really distracting about this movie is that Olsen just isn't at all convincing as an 18-year-old: she was 23 at the time of filming, and can't shake the subtle vibe of an older woman throughout. There's just nothing here that hasn't been better done in similar sexual exploration coming-of-age movies before. Thankfully for Olsen, its release was a quiet dumping that barely anyone paid attention to.
