Why It Wasn't Scary: The whole exorcism fad in horror movies has been wildly played-out for years, and not a single one of these movies has been able to hold the smallest candle to The Exorcist, with The Devil Inside being no exception. Though the poor acting, laughably generic plot and unoriginal found footage format would be enough to earn it a place on this list, where the movie really takes the cake is with its ending, or lack thereof. At the climactic moment, the movie just...ends, pointing audiences to a web address to find out more about the central case. What. The. Hell!? So, rather than end on a creepy note with the bad guy winning or something, it ends on a total non-climax that's infuriating and undoes any viewer investment in what they just watched (which is likely already minuscule anyway). How To Improve It: Get rid of the laughable "connect the cuts" scene, throw a little more cash at it to allow for a) better actors, b) more fancy, scary set-pieces and c) an actual ending. With these refinements, The Devil Inside could actually aspire to be, believe it or not, a two-star movie!
