15 Bafflingly High Rotten Tomatoes Scores You Won't Believe

3. Star Wars Episode II - Attack Of The Clones

Critical Consensus: "Though it still suffers from an overabundance of exposition, the action quotient is upped considerably in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, which makes it an improvement over The Phantom Menace." Why It's Wrong: Though 67% is hardly an amazing score, it's an affront to many Star Wars fans that the lowest score for a movie in the much-maligned prequel trilogy is The Phantom Menace's 57%, and that all three of them seem to have been given such an easy pass by critics. While Revenge of the Sith sits at a shockingly undeserved 80%, it's still a significantly better film than Attack, which is easily the worst and most boring of the three, and not even worthy of half its final score. How any movie in the Star Wars franchise can be this concerned with bureaucratic mundanities without delivering much in the fun department is beyond reason. And then there's Anakin's terrible sand dialogue. 'Nuff said. Why The Critics Liked It: They're typically not as invested in the franchise as fanboys, and so didn't have as many nit-picks. They likely just appreciated George Lucas' (dubious) world-building and the scope of the whole thing...for some reason. Otherwise, this one is really difficult to reconcile.
