14. Spy Kids
Critical Consensus: "A kinetic and fun movie that's sure to thrill children of all ages." Why It's Wrong: It's not so much that Spy Kids is a bad film, because it's not, but it's just not worthy of such strong acclaim (its average score is a surprisingly high 7.2/10). It's a lightly amusing, disposable kids flick that you won't remember more than a few days after leaving the cinema, and that's really enough to knock it down to the 60-65% mark. Why The Critics Liked It: The shock of seeing Robert Rodriguez making a kids film (and more to the point, succeeding at it) likely had something to do with it, as well as the decent performances and snappy 88-minute run-time. A lot of reviewers also compared the movie favourably to the James Bond series at the time, and considering that Pierce Brosnan's mostly terrible run of Bond films had pretty much worn audiences out, that may explain why they took to this so well.
