15 Bafflingly Low Rotten Tomatoes Scores You Won't Believe

1. Alien 3 (44%)

Critical Consensus: "Good acting has salvaged many a poor script in the past, but not here." - Time Out Why It€™s Wrong: Alien 3 is not a great film, and far from it, but it's certainly not as bad as its reception suggests, particularly if you're game enough to check out the vastly superior Assembly Cut (which David Fincher had no involvement in). Of the four main Alien movies, it's the lowest ranked (just behind Alien Resurrection, which sits at 54%), yet the plot is decidedly more involving than the absurd fan fiction-esque nature of Resurrection's absurd revival plot, and of course, it brings Ripley's story to its logical (and seemingly concrete) conclusion. Weaver again gives an excellent performance, the sets are imposing, and the movie does enough different to distinguish itself from its two (undeniably vastly superior) predecessors. Why The Critics Hated It: This one's incredibly obvious: because it was following two of the greatest sci-fi movies ever made, of course! Anyone would have been disappointed with Alien 3 at the time, though re-evaluated within the context of the series, it absolutely deserves a higher approval rating. Which movies do you feel that the critics totally underrated? Shout it out in the comments!
