15 Best Alien Movie Deaths
5. Ash (Alien)
The original white-blooded artificial humanoid in the franchise was outed in shocking fashion - Ash’s berserk fury leads to his crew-mates attacking him in self-defence, exposing the now-famously milky interior of a calculating android.
The hostility that the Nostromo crew show towards the multi-dimensionally undercover agent Ash seeps through like a noxious gas as they confront the “other” discovered amongst their inner circle.
The scene is laced with dread as Ash reveals in no uncertain terms just what they’re dealing with on their lonely ship, futilely hunting an immensely deadly creature that none are capable of killing. Not one to mince words, Ash offers a chilling parting message for the doomed mortals: “you have my sympathies.”
That’s why the venomous call for Ripley to “pull the plug”, before Parker melts the android’s face with a flamethrower, obliterating body and mind, feels like an act of vengeance against an antagonist that was too close to home.
The sight of Ash’s ruined shell, his limbs and various body parts astray, coated in sickening pools of thick white gloop is striking in that this is a gruesome death that occurs not at the hands of the monstrous Xenomorph, but our protagonists.
