15 Best Alien Movie Deaths

10. Charlie Holloway (Prometheus)

Alien 3 Ripley
20th Century Fox

We’ve been wary since 1979 of characters who seem to be the heroes of Alien films, so from his introduction Charlie Holloway is a ticking time bomb that only intensifies as David spikes his drink with the virulent black liquid that’s clearly bad news.

Speaking of the 1979 original, Prometheus purports to right some wrongs, with Meredith Vickers refusing point-blank to allow the sick Holloway to board the ship. With no Ash to override the decision in this film, she’s free to use any means at her disposal to deny the infected entry, rocking a flamethrower to underline her point.

Resigned to his fate (perhaps he’s seen the other films in the franchise?) he urges Vickers to put him down, with her weapon not only ending his life, but also nipping whatever nasty surprise was lurking inside him in the bud.

If only Ripley had done the same when Kane came knocking! She’d hardly have enjoyed a cosy relationship with her crew-mates from then on, but at least she’d have saved all of their lives. As a callback to the original film, it’s much appreciated.
